Hey friends!
My name is Tache, I’m a ski patroller, student, guide, and outdoor gear nerd who’s spent way too much of my money on gear, and also seen way too much expensive equipment collect dust in garages (including my own). I’m building Gear2Peer to fix that.
The idea for Gear2Peer came from my own experience — wanting to try new adventure sports, and later working in the outdoor industry, constantly seeing people get priced out of adventure. I’ve guided, patrolled, studied avalanches, and dragged more gear up mountains than I care to count.
One thing I’ve learned? The outdoors should be for everyone, not just those who can afford a $4,000 ski touring kit.
So while studying business and philosophy at SFU, I started building a platform where people can lend and rent gear locally. Kind of like Airbnb, but for skis, splitboards, tents, avalanche gear, and more (but no climbing ropes!). Whether you're a seasoned guide with a garage full of backups or a first-timer planning your first hike, Gear2Peer connects you to the community, not the checkout line.
This all started in the Sea-to-Sky (Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler) — a region full of people who live for the mountains, but don’t always have the tools to access them. I wanted to build something that reflects our values: community over competition, shared experiences over shiny new gear, and sustainability over consumerism.
We’re just getting started. The beta launch is rolling out soon, and we’re already working on features like:
Thanks for being here. Whether you're here to lend, borrow, or just check out what’s up, welcome to Gear2Peer.
Let’s make outdoor access a shared experience.
